The basic idea
Concentration math uses values such as vial amount and diluent volume to calculate concentration, typically expressed in mg/mL. It is arithmetic performed on numbers a person enters — it is not a medical calculation and does not evaluate whether any amount is appropriate for anyone.

- Vial amount (for example, milligrams of labeled content)
- Diluent volume added (for example, milliliters of solution)
- Resulting concentration, expressed as mg/mL
What the math can and cannot tell you
